U3 Finishing off - 'How we organize ourselves'

AS ONE DOOR CLOSES, ANOTHER DOOR OPENS
It was a week of ups and downs for our Grade 3s, from laughter and cheers to 'thank yous' with tears.

Semester 1 drew to a close with the 3-way-conferences held for our Reverential Rhinos.
We completed our inquiry cycle for Unit 3, and reflected on our findings about society.
We had to say goodbye to our dear friends along the way, and made the most out of their last few days.
... But as one chapter ends, the next one begins ... 
We are excited for the new adventure that awaits our favorite friends.
Semester 2 began with a new buddy, who brought his cheery personality and showed us his most intricate hobby. Unit 4 is coming soon, let's see whether it's about creative expression or maybe even typhoons?

CHILDREN'S RIGHTS
The Grade 3s looked into children's rights independently. Then gathered in small groups to think of and discuss the different responsibilities that come with these. Once their discussions were finished they drafted a plan on how they would like to act out their rights and responsibilities. Sketched action scenes, and little comic strips, fell part of their planning process.

After that, they rehearsed and tried fine-tuning some of their scenes.
Lights, camera, action... it was time to hit the screen.




But it does not end there!
The FINAL step was to edit, cut and add an effect or two, then upload it to Seesaw for all of you to view!



Can we do our board game, please?
In English they challenged, tested, played and rated each others board games.





In Mathematics we had fun with measuring angles using a protractor and continued investigating regular and irregular polygons.

A heartfelt farewell to Shun and Keiichiro!💕
On Wednesday the Reverential Rhinos had to say farewell to two of their fellow calf friends, Shun and Keiichiro.

Shun has been part of the DSKI family for 5 years! And Keiichiro joined the DSKI family when he was in Grade 1. This was a very emotional 'see you later' for our class, parents and teachers.
We wish them all the best on their new adventures.
We are thinking of you and sending lots of love, remember to come and visit us soon!

🎶  2 WEEKS TO GO!  🎶  Our Upper Primary students continue to give it their all during our 'UP Spring Musical' practice sessions. Afterall, we only have 2 weeks left to practice as a team! SWIMMING The excitement was real on Monday, the long awaited anticipation for their swimming lessons had finally arrived and our Grade 3s were bursting at the seams with enthusiasm. U4 Natural Disasters and Ballet Dancers

  My Wonder Wall Brick Learning about the natural features of the earth and what is classified as natural phenomena, the Reverential Rhino's had many interesting questions about the 'hazardous side' of nature. They took to their Wonder Wall and built it higher with questions to help get them started on their inquiry cycle.  - Do natural disaster's happen on other planets? - Could lava from a volcanic eruption cause a wild fire? - How do tornado's come about? Who said Mathematics can't be tasty!? Some excitement in class to aid us in learning about data collection, interpretation, graphs and diagrams. We used marbles - no, not the ones that roll on the ground, the ones made by Meiji that you put in your mouth - to help us sort, classify and display our recordings in the form of a chart, diagram and graph.  During English, we explored various connective words that help us join sentences together to make them understandable and more appealing. U5 Rehearsal and Special Visitors

  🎶  Dance, Dance, Dance  🎶 This week was filled with awesome practice sessions for our UP musical performance. B.A.S.T.E The Grade Threes continued looking at the elements of dance in their groups and took time to reflect on their work before deciding on their final steps to finish off their posters. Special Visitors🏀 We had so much fun learning from the professionals themselves! It was awesome to particpate in a basketball clinic held by the Kobe Storks coaches at our school.
