U4 STEM Week!

Innovation For The Future Welcome to STEM week! It was after the winter break when the Grade 3s began discussing their thoughts and ideas around this year's STEM week theme. They spoke about correcting pollution and litter in order to better the future. Recognizing it as a global issue, they considered litter difficulties that some of them experienced in different countries around the world and thought of the possible reasons why. This is when the idea of creating recycling bins came about. They wanted to design bins that target all audiences, from children to adults, from those who cannot read to those speaking a different language. Their designs included very cool features as well, such as bin's with noise sensors to play a tune each time something gets recycled, internal self sorting belts, voice controlled robot bin that comes on demand and also bin's that have live wax worms to eat recycled plastic!
