U4 UP Ski Trip

 Upper Primary Winter Ski Trip
It was an early rise last Wednesday morning as we eagerly made our way over to school lugging along our big heavy bags. The coach was waiting to welcome us and our parents were waving to say goodbye. After heaving our luggage onto the bus we were off on our exciting journey to Hachikita Kogen with no time to lose.

A movie, snack and restroom stop along the way, the gift of falling snow on the other end of the tunnel and a warm meal awaiting our arrival...welcome to Hachikita Kogen Ski Resort!

The Snow bunnies skiing group was accompanied by Mr Inman.

The Arctic Foxes skiing group was accompanied by Mrs Harris.

The Arctic wolves skiing group was accompanied by Mr Mayr.

The Snow leopards snowboarding group was accompanied by Miss Schelin.

⛷🏂

An hour on the slopes before making our way to the hotel to unpack, eat and enjoy an evening of quizzes and games!

Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, we were up at 6:30 and eating a hearty breakfast by 7:30.

At 9am we were on the slopes and challenging ourselves with new targets and goals.

A yummy warm lunch during our break and some fun in the su...snow!

Back to the slopes we go, new heights and sights for our fantastic skiers and snowboarders!
I was incredibly proud of all their efforts, bravery and determination!

We handed in our skis, rentals and boots with ease and made our way back to the hotel for the final evening of delicious food, board games and Zzzz's.

The next morning we had breakfast, packed and loaded the bus then thanked and waved goodbye to our hosts, until next time.

Before eating croquettes for lunch and buying our souvenirs, we stopped at the sports hall for a game of 'capture the flag' and our traditional 'teachers vs. students dodgeball'.

It was finally time for us to head home for the long weekend, we were greeted with joyful hello's and 'how was your skiing experience?'

Unit 4 - How the World Works
This week we have been reading the story 'The Pack of Pompeii' learning about the volcanic eruption that took place in Pompeii from the perspective of dogs rather than humans.
We analyzed continental drift of our earth going back 250 million years ago, and also 'dissected' our earth to look at its four main layers. Using some old cookies and water, we created a representation of the earth's crust and demonstrated our understanding of how mountains and volcanoes are formed because of movement or collision between continental and/or oceanic plates.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all!💝
