 Natural Disasters Around the World
The Grade 3s took an interest in learning about the types of natural disasters that can happen around the world. Last week they selected their country of choice and began researching. This week they finished their research and compiled their presentations with emphasis being placed on understanding the information they're using in their slides. 




Book Day
Book day was a treat for us especially when we rocked up to school in our PJs and Tees!
DEaR - Drop Everything and Read, we enjoyed reading some of our favorite books from home.
We designed and created nonfiction book covers based on natural disasters.




And
We were very lucky to have one of our mom's come in and read for us.
First, she gave us a lesson on how to manage, handle and organize books in the library.


Next, we got to listen to a lovely Korean story about grace.

Finally, we listened to a German story about a koala who learnt to take risks by stepping out of his comfort zone.

During Mathematics, we worked with data handling and investigated the probability of different outcomes.
In English, we spent time with SPaG - Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar.

DSKI CULTURE WEEK
26th - 29th March

We will be having a week filled with fun activities, celebrating all the cultures in our school! 

More information to follow next week but - we are looking for parents to help out!

You can - 

  • Show or teach games / sports / toys from your country

  • Play a traditional instrument, teach a song, or create arts and crafts 

  • Teach the students a dance or movements special to your country

  • Prepare a native dish with the students 

If you are interested please let your homeroom teacher before March 14(Friday).

We are a professional basketball team in Kobe city.
We would like to announce that Kobe Storks and DSKI collaborated together to have a HOME GAME TOUR EVENT.
Kobe Storks will invite you to attend our home game at World Memorial Hall on March 31 against a professional basketball team in Shizuoka. 
As of February 29, Veltex Shizuoka is currently in 5th place in the Western Conferenceand Kobe Storks is currently in 4th place in the Western Conference. This game is going to be very important for our team to advance in the playoffs.
We need your passionate support to give energy to our players!
We are looking forward to seeing you all in the game on March 31!!

🎶  2 WEEKS TO GO!  🎶  Our Upper Primary students continue to give it their all during our 'UP Spring Musical' practice sessions. Afterall, we only have 2 weeks left to practice as a team! SWIMMING The excitement was real on Monday, the long awaited anticipation for their swimming lessons had finally arrived and our Grade 3s were bursting at the seams with enthusiasm. U4 Natural Disasters and Ballet Dancers

  My Wonder Wall Brick Learning about the natural features of the earth and what is classified as natural phenomena, the Reverential Rhino's had many interesting questions about the 'hazardous side' of nature. They took to their Wonder Wall and built it higher with questions to help get them started on their inquiry cycle.  - Do natural disaster's happen on other planets? - Could lava from a volcanic eruption cause a wild fire? - How do tornado's come about? Who said Mathematics can't be tasty!? Some excitement in class to aid us in learning about data collection, interpretation, graphs and diagrams. We used marbles - no, not the ones that roll on the ground, the ones made by Meiji that you put in your mouth - to help us sort, classify and display our recordings in the form of a chart, diagram and graph.  During English, we explored various connective words that help us join sentences together to make them understandable and more appealing.   🎶  Dance, Dance, Dance  🎶 This week was filled with awesome practice sessions for our UP musical performance. B.A.S.T.E The Grade Threes continued looking at the elements of dance in their groups and took time to reflect on their work before deciding on their final steps to finish off their posters. Special Visitors🏀 We had so much fun learning from the professionals themselves! It was awesome to particpate in a basketball clinic held by the Kobe Storks coaches at our school.
